Darlene earned her B.S. in Speech Communications and Psychology from Troy State University, her Masters in Social Work from the University of Alabama, and her M.Ed. in School Counseling/Professional Counseling from the University of North Texas. Prior to becoming an educator, Darlene worked as a social worker and worked with struggling families and connected them to resources. She also worked with crime victims as a victim advocate. When she started her career in education, she taught special education, Speech/Debate, as well as English. She taught for 8 years before becoming a school counselor. For the past 12 years, she has worked with middle and high school students as a school counselor. Darlene currently works as a high school counselor at Decatur High School and is an adjunct professor at the University of North Texas. Having worked in education for over 20 years, Darlene has seen firsthand the many challenges facing our children and teens. She is passionate about working with teens and young adults, meeting them where they are, and helping them reach their fullest potential. Darlene is scheduling appointments for teens ages 12-17 and young adults/college students.
